The Strange Tale of the Canadian in Camp Gitmo

Lt. Cmdr. William Kuebler of the US Army is developing a reputation as something of a whistleblower, not afraid to speak his mind in the cause of pursuing wholesome all-American ideals like freedom and justice, which are being denied wholesale by the Bush regime.

Kuebler is the military lawyer assigned to the defence of Canadian Omar Khadr, who was arrested at age 15 in Afghanistan and has been held illegally by US forces in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, ever since.

Having recently criticised the Canadian government for failing to do enough to help Khadr (in fact they did absolutely zero, preferring to sacrifice an individual Canadian citizen in order to keep on the right side of the US government),  Kuebler has reportedly just signed an affidavit confirming that a 2003 Standard Operations Procedure manual for interrogators at the so-called Camp Gitmo, recently seen by him as part of standard disclosure, instructed them to destroy handwritten notes of interrogrations:

”The mission has legal and political issues that may lead to interrogators being called to testify, keeping the number of documents with interrogation information to a minimum can minimize certain legal issues,” the document is quoted as saying in an affidavit signed by Kuebler.

If ever you needed evidence that government can’t be trusted to play fair, this is it! This is news that will outrage the world. You read it first at Global Nomads!
